Most room fountains are plastic with a stone look. Water runs down them in a smooth path. On natural slate, it spreads into the structure of the stone, and it is precisely this distribution that creates the sound and the shimmer that defines a water wall.
Slate splits into thin layers, is dense, and absorbs almost no water. That is why it does not swell or warp when it is constantly wet, and why it does not fade. The slabs are broken and placed individually; each wall has its own unique grain.

How loud is a water wall really?
This is the question we receive most often. Honest answer: You hear the water, and you are supposed to. What you are not supposed to hear is the technology. You adjust the volume using the pump's regulator, from a fine trickle to a strong rush. Anyone operating the wall in the bedroom usually turns it way down.

What does it cost per month?
The most common silent concern regarding a device that runs 24/7. Here is the calculation so you don't have to do it yourself. Basis: Continuous operation 24 hours, 37 cents per kilowatt-hour, the German average price for 2026 according to BDEW.
For comparison: A VIO or LIV L consumes less electricity per year than a Wi-Fi router (which draws around 88 kWh) and about one-sixth of a refrigerator. At a electricity price of 32 rappen, Swiss values are slightly lower.
Care and hygiene: doesn't it get dirty quickly?
Wherever water runs over stone, limescale marks appear over time, and biofilm forms in stagnant water. With natural stone, this is not a problem, but rather a matter of ten minutes per month. The logic of the products: AQUA in the water, PIERRE on the stone.
Stone is more forgiving than plastic
Slate and granite are hard and acid-resistant enough for real cleaning. Brush, descaler, complete treatment: all allowed. On coated plastic, the same things would leave scratches.

Frequently asked questions about the water wall
How much electricity does the water wall use?
Very little. VIO L, LIV L, and AVA L run with the MIDI PRO at 2.9 watts; this is about 25 kWh per year in continuous operation, which at 37 cents per kilowatt-hour is about 0.78 per month. LIV XL and AVA XL require the MAX PRO at 15.6 watts for a height of two meters, about 137 kWh and about 4.21 per month. Both operate on 12-volt DC, so there is no mains voltage in the water. HARMONY is the exception at 45 watts at 230 volts, about 12.15 per month.
How often do I have to refill the water?
About every one to two weeks. More evaporates in winter because the air is drier. This is exactly the effect that many people want.
Is there a filter?
There is no filter system, and it is not needed. The water remains in motion. There is a small intake filter inside the pump that you rinse out during your monthly routine.
How heavy is it and how much does shipping cost?
VIO weighs 27 kg, with the larger models weighing correspondingly more. 5 to 8 working days is standard. Germany: free shipping from 300.00, below that 9.90 for orders over 40.00 and 14.90 for those under 40.00. Austria and Central Europe: free from 500.00, below that 12.90 to 69.00 depending on weight. Switzerland and Liechtenstein: free from 750.00 including customs clearance, below that 9.50 to 87.00.
Why doesn't it have built-in light?
By design. LED strips in wet areas corrode and fail; we had them in our range and were not satisfied with their durability. Instead, we recommend the SHINE illuminant, a bendable USB spotlight that you attach to the planter and point at the water. Tip: Position the wall so that window light falls on it during the day.
Can I also set it up outside?
Yes, all models shown are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The water must be removed if there is a risk of frost.
What if the pump fails?
A pump is a wear part, similar to a light bulb. That is why every set comes with a spare pump; after that, they can be reordered individually from 39.00.
How long is the warranty?
Two years on the individual product, five years on all LIVING sets. Plus a 30-day right of return; return shipping is at your own expense.
Does it fit in a yoga or training room?
Many people place the water wall where their mat is. The steady sound creates a calm background to guide your breathing, without playlists or speakers. At 27 kg and up, it stands firmly and won't tip over when training nearby. Turn up the flow for your session, then turn it down, and use the roller base to move it to the side if you need the space.
What does Feng Shui say about placement?
In this philosophy, water is the element of flow and is associated with flexibility and the flow of money. The common rules: moving, clear water; flow directed into the room, not out the door; southeast, north, and east as favorable areas; when sitting, have a solid wall behind you and the water in your field of vision, i.e., opposite the sofa. We don't promise you anything based on this; it is a philosophy, not a science, but the question comes up so often that we are writing the rules down here.
Where are the water walls manufactured?
We are open about it: CLIMAQUA is a Swiss family business, and the products are handcrafted in Fujian province in southeastern China. Fujian is one of the most traditional stone regions in the world, where craftsmanship has been passed down for generations as an art form, inherited from father to daughter and son. Each slate slab is individually selected, split, and glued by hand, which is why no two walls are the same. We have been working with the same workshops for years, visit them regularly in person, and check every delivery. Development, quality control, warehousing, advice, and service are handled by us in Switzerland and Germany.
